Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

anchormanSan Diego, the 1970s; Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is loving life as a popular local news anchorman, but the arrival of a female colleague (Christina Applegate) rattles Ron and the other boys at the station. This looks like one of those comedies where they have written an entire film about a popular character from Saturday Night Live. Ferrell’s first major star vehicle has characters that are hard to believe and a story that is essentially a series of loosely connected skits. Still, much of the material is very funny and the cast carries the day, including Steve Carell as a slightly retarded weatherman.

Quote: “I have no idea where he would have gotten ahold of German pornography. But you and I are mature adults; we’ve both seen our share of pornographic materials. Oh, you never have? Of course you haven’t, how stupid of me. Neither have I. I was just speaking in generalities. Right. I’ll stop by the school a little later, Sister Margaret.
