EVERY SALE BEGINS WITH A SMILE.
A very straight screen adaptation of a play about three salesmen who gather in a hotel room, hoping to cut a major business deal. As a movie, this is nothing special, but director John Swanbeck proves that if you have the right material and good-enough actors something worthwhile will come out of it. Religion is an important theme; the youngest of the three men is kind of a god-fearing angel there to challenge the two cynical veterans, but it turns out they all fear something, they all cling to something. The actors are great, and there are a few thoughts worth pondering.
