Krippendorf’s Tribe

THE LAST UNDISCOVERED TRIBE IS ABOUT TO EXPOSE THEMSELVES.Ā

Anthropologist James Krippendorf (Richard Dreyfuss) is having financial difficulties and comes up with a way to make money ā€“ inventing an undiscovered tribe in New Guinea. It’s a little depressing to see Dreyfuss’s talent for comedy (which was on full display in The Goodbye Girl (1977)) wasted on mediocre fare like this. He tries hard, and Jenna Elfman is just as charmingly goofy as in Dharma & Greg, and this family comedy is well paced, but the jokes are just too unsatisfactory (and some of them are too adult for the kids).Ā

1998-U.S. 94 min. Color. Directed byĀ Todd Holland. Cast: Richard Dreyfuss (James Krippendorf), Jenna Elfman (Veronica Micelli), Natasha Lyonne (Shelly Krippendorf), Gregory Smith, Carl Michael Lindner, Stephen Root… Elaine Stritch, Lily Tomlin.
