EVERYTHING HE NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE, SHE LEARNED IN PRISON.
Attorney Peter Sanderson (Steve Martin) finds out that the woman heās been wooing in an Internet chat room really is a big, black ex-convict (Queen Latifah) who wants his help. This comedy of culture clashes has stereotypes, an obvious formula and a tendency to repeat some of the jokes over and over… but I still like it, so help me God. It is pretty funny and who can resist Martin as the uptight lawyer, Latifah as the tough ex-convict, Joan Plowright as the archconservative heiress and Eugene Levy as Martinās kinky colleague? They make it work and even the ending holds up reasonably well.Ā
