DON’T BREATHE A WORD.
A young couple (Gwyneth Paltrow, Johnathon Schaech) get married and move into the Kentucky ranch where the groom’s mother (Jessica Lange) is living… but Martha’s not as nice as she pretends to be. A very predictable thriller that might be appealing to those who hate their in-laws; it’s pretty dull right up to the ending – which turns too hysterical. Lange seems to enjoy her character, a liquored-up Southern psycho mom, with a hollow laugh, who is careful never to show how much she hates her daughter-in-law… but none of the actors deliver outstanding performances.
