Oklahoma kid Claude Bukowski (John Savage) arrives in New York on his way to the Vietnam War and makes friends with hippies in Central Park. At the time of this undeniably silly filmā€™s release the glory days of the hippie movement were long gone, and many critics were right in pointing out that aspects of the story feel outdated. The characters may not be thoroughly believable, but Milos Formanā€™s sense of anarchy translates well. Many of the songs are undeniable classics, the cinematography has an autumnal beauty and the message of peace, love and understanding is always attractive.
