Leathery veteran cop Jake Stone (Jack Palance) and his partner move in with the Robbersons to keep an eye on their neighbor, a vicious criminal. This Stakeout meets National Lampoon’s Vacation was a serious attempt at trying to revive Chevy Chase’s career after the spectacular failure of his talk show. Director Michael Ritchie previously made Fletch (1985), but this movie is disappointing, suffering from a script void of funny jokes. The actors are better, but they can only do so much.
