Antonia’s Line

A MOTION PICTURE THAT CELEBRATES EVERYTHING YOU LOVE ABOUT LIFE.

antoniaslineAfter the end of World War II, Antonia (Willeke van Ammelrooy) and her teen daughter (Els Dottermans) move into a farm in a small village that becomes a haven for women. This typical Oscar favorite celebrates women’s independence and portrays a time and place when that wasn’t popular. The story has a vile rapist, but other male characters are more complex. As the years go by and unpredictable events occur, female solidarity at the farm stands firm. Viewers will find a rather simple but warm and beautiful film about friendship; the sentiments are reinforced by Ilona Sekacz’s score. Excellent performances all around.
