Pushing Tin

A COMEDY ABOUT LIFE, LOVE, AIRPLANES AND OTHER BUMPY RIDES.

pushingtinMysterious air-traffic controller Russell Bell (Billy Bob Thornton) gets a job at a New York airport; one of his colleagues, Nick Falzone (John Cusack), “accidentally” sleeps with his wife. The best part of this movie is its both humorous and sober portrayal of life in front of a computer screen with dots representing planes in the air. Lives are at stake, everyone in the room is always close to a nervous breakdown, but to some of them this is a huge turn-on. The story would have been even better if the filmmakers had delved deeper into the relationships on display; the acting is quite good though.

1999-U.S. 124 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Mike Newell. Cast: John Cusack (Nick Falzone), Billy Bob Thornton (Russell Bell), Cate Blanchett (Connie Falzone), Angelina Jolie (Mary Bell), Jake Weber, Vicki Lewis.
