The Nanny

thenannyIt was pure coincidence that made Fran (Fran Drescher) the well-to-do Sheffieldsā€™ nanny, but she proved to have good influence on the kids. And there was a chance sheā€™d go from nanny to wife. The extremely long romantic process that was going on between the nanny and her boss (Charles Shaughnessy) became part of the dynamics of this sitcom and so did the brutal differences between the British Sheffields and the New York Jewish Fines. Drescher, with her big hairdos, tight outfits, Streisand idolatry and horribly nasal speech, was a good star for the show but the supporting cast (Daniel Davis and Lauren Lane in particular) was funnier. Unfortunately, the show never deviated from its formula and its run should have been cut a little shorter.
