Fluke

HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEONE YOU FELT YOU ALREADY KNEW?

A dog is born and given the name Fluke by a homeless woman; growing up, he starts having strange memories of his previous life as a human (Matthew Modine)… and what happened the day he died. Weā€™ve seen plenty of films about people who end up in somebody elseā€™s body, but why not make another one as long as your heart is in the right place? Itā€™s a cute story, which wraps up a bit too neatly, but it is engaging nevertheless and the music score is beautiful. Not really a film for children though since it does address dark issues, including the protagonist’sĀ  suspicious death.

1995-U.S. 96 min. Color. Directed byĀ Carlo Carlei. Novel: James Herbert. Music: Carlo Siliotto. Cast: Matthew Modine (Tom Johnson/Fluke), Nancy Travis (Carol Johnson), Eric Stoltz (Jeff Newman), Max Pomeranc, Ron Perlman, Jon Polito. Voice of Samuel L. Jackson.

Trivia: Fluke is played by Comet, of Full House fame.
