Bad Company

THE WORLD IS IN GOOD HANDS.

Two-bit hustler Jake Hayes (Chris Rock) is forced by the CIA to assume the identity of his dead twin brother who was an operative on the verge of closing an important deal. A thriller more serious than funny in tone, which is a mistake when the script is this clichéd. At least the photography gives the film the right dirty look. Rock’s part seems like something Will Smith could have done in his sleep, but he doesn’t really possess the Fresh Prince’s charm. And isn’t Peter Stormare sick of playing East European villains with bad hygiene?

2002-U.S. 116 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Joel Schumacher. Cast: Anthony Hopkins (Gaylord Oakes), Chris Rock (Jake Hayes/Kevin Pope), Gabriel Macht (Seale), Peter Stormare, John Slattery, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon.
