DC 9/11: Time of Crisis

dc911Sooner or later we would have to put up with a TV movie about the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, I guess. Too bad this is the one. The story begins with the attacks and follows the new president’s attempt to deal with a nation’s grief while planning how to strike at the terrorists in Afghanistan. In this script, the administration’s actions are nowhere near being examined in a satisfying way; it’s cheap and unconvincing. Unfortunately, Timothy Bottoms’s imitation of Dubya lacks Bush’s confidence.

2003-U.S. Made for TV. 128 min. Color. Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith. Cast: Timothy Bottoms (George W. Bush), John Cunningham (Donald Rumsfeld), David Fonteno (Colin Powell), Gregory Itzin, Penny Johnson Jerald, Stephen Macht.

Trivia: Johnson Jerald also played Condoleezza Rice in the miniseries The Path to 9/11 (2006).
